Sea shell dreams

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Life here has been busy and hot, and demanding and certainly colorful, way too colorful to remain concentrated, so I’ve decided to take another short break.  I need to finish the sea-shell dreams I’ve started a month ago, to chase the sunset and the wind that stole the drops of my inside, purple rain, to find a way to learn a proper use of the tenses in the English language/ this is not meant to be a metaphor :), I do have problems with verbs and if you have advice on how to improve that by myself, do share!!!/.  And to all of you that come here and cherish my posts, may you have lovely days filled with inspirations.

I’ll be back soon!

Love& Peace …

From Athens With Love

“This is how it works- you’re young until you’re not, you love until you don’t, you try until you can’t, you laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh and everyone must breathe until their dying breath. `Cause this is how it works- you take the things you like then try to love the things you took and then you take that love you made and stick it in to someone else’s heart, pumping someone else’s blood and walk around unarmed, hoping that it won’t get harmed and even if it does you’ll just do it all again” ~ Regina Spektor

* * * * *

Good morning or good evening, good afternoon or good night? I’ll leave this to your choice, but whatever you decide to pick up, make sure you notice the love I sent together with the greetings. Well, it’s been quite a “funny” time lately, which probably can explain my absence from the blogging world. The Muses have been playing Chinese scrabble with me and do I need to mention who won since Chinese is not on the list with languages that I speak?

Life has been like the “Horse in Motion” / the first movie ever made/. Considering that I love horses and black and white colors you’d ask what’s wrong with life being that way? The motion! The problem is in the motion! The horse is bored to tired and the colors, they’ve just gone bleak! There is a part of a song that I like very much:

” They say that bad things happen for a reason, but no wise words will stop the bleeding, because “life” has moved on while I’m still grieving and when a heart breaks, no it doesn’t breakeven.”  And there are words I remember my granny told me once: ” Certain things in life need to be lived, good or bad, you shouldn’t try to escape them. Be patient and let time help you find your way, there is always a way!”.

So I guess I’m just spending time quietly and patiently waiting for the light to revive the colors around me. And since I am an optimist by nature, I don’t really suffer from all the transitions around me, I still have a smile on my face, because I do believe in the saying:  ” Tomorrow is always a better day!”, but, by nature too, I build walls and I become distant when life bothers me. So here comes the time where I need to say to all my online friends – I haven’t forgot about any of you and I haven’t missed any of your posts on purpose …

Writing “Adagio” and “In love with a poet” it was a consuming- all-my-energy experience. The truth is, I’m quite happy with both poems, but in the process I missed my first blog birthday. My blog is now 1 year, 1 month and 11 days old and I’m really surprised that I made it up to here. After 166 posts, 456 spam comments and 18 257 hits, I’m still here and I plan on keeping it that way, which leads me to my plans for December …

I’ve decided to join Community Network Meme 2011. It will take part in December and it will be hosted by my friend Tom Baker / for more information click HERE/. I call Tom my first guiding blogging light. He was the first person I met when I started blogging and the good start that I had I owe to him and his advice. Thank you Tom!

Tom has also created a new blog – Flavor Internationale and I am claiming a neighborhood there. Read more about Flavor Internationale HERE. If you want to share a part of your culture, a piece of your country, that’s the place.

And to finish this post and start my day with a smile again, accept my little poem as a gift for your friendship and support!

From Athens With Love

In the loving New York 3 a.m. light
Under the orange sunset over Golden Gate Bridge
With the winds dancing with Seattle’s Space Needle
Through the snowflakes humming in Burlington, Ontario
Listen to the herald of the Mediterranean

Walking with the beauty of the Queen’s necklace in Mumbai
Taking a deep breath, staring at Taj Mahal
Counting the red sand in the stones of Qutb Minar
Whispering to Buddha in Hussain Sagar
Keep a little memory of the blue skies and me

Watching the Eclipse of the Moon over Lapland
Or chasing Butterflies of Time in Asia
Deciphering Dragon’s Dreams with the fall
Of the first Autumn leaves on the South coast
Or painting poems Inside the Mind of a Lunatic

Searching for the key of how to write and read
Or tracing the beauty of the mind and its whirls
Smiling over a cup of coffee, spreading joy
Or musing only when the moon howls
Know that you are the sunshine of my rainy days

9/11 – Foolish games

“If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate …”
Sandy Dahl, the wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl.

* * * * *

Day by day the games of peace and war damage the strength of humanity that holds the parallels and the meridians on Earth at the right place so we can exist not only today, but tomorrow too. The humanity, once valued as priceless by me, by you, by all of us who find grace and happiness first and most of all in the laughter of children, that humanity now suffers, weak and burning in pain. That humanity is almost brought down to the ground, praying on tired knees for a change and a ray of hopeful light.

I wonder how many days with smoke and flames, how many towns destroyed under the liquid sunshine we have to witness, to realize that in these foolish games only the innocent leave their lives buried in ashes and concrete. How many memorial services we have to swallow through eyes torn apart by the salt of the tears, how many names we have to engrave through the flowers left in memory, to understand that in these foolish games kindness dies first and the new day that comes carries rage and sadness that leads to new games, new wars, new tragedies … ?

The man with an engagement ring in the pocket that never came back home from work; the son whispering “I love you” on the phone to his mom, knowing there are minutes left to live; the little boy that never got a birthday present from his dad, because he was on duty saving someone else’s life; Who will explain the rules of the big games to all these strangers? Who will tell them that they’ve reached the finishing line without the right to throw the dice? Who asked them if they want the title “A winner with a special prize- the death”?

I can go on forever, upset by how the world has become, how easy people choose to fight in the name of power over faith, in the name of lost causes over hurt ego and pride, but today is not about blaming who’s fault were the tragedies, today is about the fallen and their families, a day to honor the memory of all who lost their lives! And we can hope, we can only hope that the blood and the tears shed will help humanity to give the world a lesson, to give every nation a purpose to treasure the peace and the colors of smiles left …
