Lost in pearls

I was sorting out my jewelry box and I took few pictures. Later on I wanted to find a quote to attach to the pictures and I must say, there are so many lovely sayings about precious stones that it was hard to choose only one! If you have a favorite jewelry quote, do share with me, please! Enjoy!

Do not judge from mere appearances; for the lift laughter that bubbles on the lip often mantles over the depths of sadness, and the serious look may be the sober veil that covers a divine peace and joy. The bosom can ache beneath diamond brooches; and many a blithe heart dances under coarse wool. ~Edwin Hubbel Chapin

Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

If wisdom and diamonds grew on the same tree we could soon tell how much men loved wisdom. ~Lemuel K. Washburn

Gold cannot be pure, and people cannot be perfect. ~Chinese Proverb

Mysterious opals contain the wonders of the skies – sparkling rainbows, fireworks, and lightning, shifting and moving in their depths. ~Author Unknown

The most precious jewels are not made of stone, but of flesh. ~Robert Ludlum

Sparks of pink tourmaline, green jade, amethyst, and blue sapphire flash through the cloud of my being, like shooting stars in a cobalt sky. I shed the pyrite, lead, hematite, the heavy, the dross. Lost in a whisper of indigo dreams, like a gray sparrow feather – I  float through Eternity, a fragile-strong willow-wisp of joy. ~ Jamie Dedes

Art on ice

Art on ice

snowflakes falling into deep dreams
winter’s cold unmercifully fading away
skater longing for Nijinsky’s music
empty the tribunes in the dark

and i shaped out of ice his heart
i drew the beats on the frozen ground
to see him skate with the moonlight
to hear the violins blessing the crowd

Evgeni Plushenko Nijunsky tribute 2004 – best performance.

You are probably wondering what does summer girl like me has to do with all this ice. Well, strangely enough, ice-skating is my favorite sport, I could never be a skater, brutally cold for me, but I can sit for hours and watch ice-shows. Evgeni Plushenko is my favorite man skater, I don’t think there has been a better one on the ice. I can very easily call him the King of ice and if you’ve seen the video you’ll probably agree with me. The jumps he does are hardly done by others, triple axel and combinations of triple, double, single jumps … the footwork, the artistic touch when he skates, so powerfully beautiful, I adore him. He is no longer active skater and watching the World Championship two weeks ago … without him, it wasn’t the same. So here this post is for Evgeni, for all the lovely art moments he gave to the crowd and me. 7 times champion of Russia,  5 times champion of Europe, 3 times World champion, Olympic champion in 2006 … well, I take a bow and continue to admire him with all my heart and soul.

P.S. It’s amazing to feel inspired again and to think about somebody else but Brian :)
