 Summer dreams

My heart is made of scintillating summer,
warmth and breeze in my raven curls.
I wish for the taste of sweet immortality,
laughter and pearls on my tanned skin.

It’s summer, dazzling riot time and I smile,
how intensely hued is life now. I drift in dreams,
I am happy with the skies, turquoise butterflies,
a sip of wine and a kiss on my summer lips.

Lykavittos

“The touch of an infinite mystery passes over the trivial and the familiar, making it break out into ineffable music. The trees, the stars, and the blue hills ache with a meaning which can never be uttered in words.” Rabindranath Tagore

I’m not sure if I have the right words to describe what is to walk up to Lykavittos ( the highest hill in Athens) and see the whole town in your feet, sparkling under the morning sun, and I’m not sure if my camera was able to capture the glory of each moment, but still, I’d like to share with you my favorite place in the city- Lykavittos hill.

Athens

“A great city, whose image dwells in the memory of man, is the type of some great idea. Rome represents conquest; Faith hovers over the towers of Jerusalem; and Athens embodies the pre-eminent quality of the antique world, Art.”

~Benjamin Disraeli

Athens

Athens. City of sun glitter and alabaster colors.
Of arts and history inside Plato’s and Aristotle’s minds,
their thoughts calling out in every marble corner.

Of Gods gifts, olive trees and Poseidon’s tears,
enclosing the tourists in ancient glory,
lemon blossoms tucked in their hearts.

Of windflowers and candles treading
an adventurous path to the Cyclopean walls of Acropolis,
fountains bringing back the life of colors.

Of Aegean democracy and independence,
unfurled over the souls of old times
and the coffee taste of today, the sky is smiling.

Athens. City where only its citizens
know the times of darkness, when the neon lights
are broken and the crowds- blind with anger.
