Winter

Winter

Brutal love, lonely promises in frigid, velvet gowns,
the sun has turned back on you, on me, on hope.
We all weep, conquered by sable tears,
by javelins of fables and rue, asking why?

Why did he end the passion, the blush of pretty garlands,
merrily pirouetting over the ivory beauty of snow?
Who let him lash out at the gift of fantasy and flowers?
What soul, what consciousness he shares?

And as the freezing nights separate us with blizzards,
with lifeless words of unwritten ballads, I see
how every dawn is secretly charged with fake summers,

but no answer is granted, only thorns and wounds,
cleaving the last sensation left into ruins, guarding
silently the crystal tiara of his mistress, lady Winter.

hmm. You have a lot of pretty imagery here, and your stanzas evoke lovely ideas, I’m just not sure I understand the poem. You use some beautiful words, I especially love, “merrily pirouetting over the ivory beauty of snow”. It’s so happy! Again though, I’m not sure I know what you mean.

great post though, and thank you for sharing =)

One thing that I love about poetry is that you can express any feelings and still to keep the actual emotion very private … In this case, the poem is about the sun that has left you once winter comes/ a man who has left a woman/,
where the narrator/ me?/ asks why the sun/ the man/ left and ruined all the happy moments … the rest is all metaphors … Thank you for liking my post!

Sensual, evocative images. I can feel the cold and the questions and the icy landscape of a soul that is not responding … and what a wonderful photo by Kavita. Altogether wonderful post, Blaga.
