What if … ?

`

What if …?

What if the flow of unpredictable words you adore
and wait with impatience to hear,
because it comes with the language of my heart,
with the alphabet of my existence,
what if this continuous flow one day stops
and I have no more beautiful things to tell you,
no more stories of miracles to share with you?

Will you go to the first bookstore and replace my fairy tales
with a novel randomly chosen from the first bookshelf you saw?
Or will you try to find new inspiration to touch my lips with,
so I could speak to you again?

What if the brilliance, the enigma in my eyes
that you always wonder how to explain,
because it comes from a world of mystery,
from a land not mentioned in any geographic maps,
what if this secret of my look one day is gone
and I have no more potential to see you as someone special,
no more effort left to look at you with love?

Will you forget the color of my eyes and discover
new eyes to look at, in the crowd of people ahead of you?
Or will you make me see the different, non-existing side of you
and make me love you even more because of it?

What if the temptation that comes out of my body
and you put on pedestal with a triumph, ignoring our weak powers,
glorifying the first time you owned me,
what if this allurement, together with my body,
one day turns into ashes and I have no more feelings to offer,
not even a single act of care?

Will you accept the dry lust from a woman-stranger you will
accidentally meet in a bar, drunk, because you no longer have me?
Or will you read all scientific books to learn new ways to wake up
the volcano of hidden passion, buried deep inside of my body?

What if my heart that is the center of our lives,
both, mine and yours, because is connected to your heart
like a mom and a baby with an umbilical cord,
what if this heart one day choose to take a different path
and I have no more stability to comfort you with,
no more hopes and dreams to go after?

Will you stop hoping and dreaming too and take the road
to nowhere so you could forget about the memories of me?
Or will you collect in a silver jar
two drops of rain, piece of sunshine and a snowflake
and give them to an African magician to create
a new heart I can love you with again?

What if in just one day what we thought is good for us
suddenly appears not to be?
Will you surrender and accept the waste of tune with silence,
like many others did?
Or will you still stand by me and climb mountains, swim oceans,
make the impossible possible to bring it all back ?

Will you then go to the first bookstore and replace my fairy tales,
with a novel you will randomly choose from the first bookshelf you saw?

    Absolutely beautiful. :)

  2. Tom Baker Says:

What if… I love your words Blaga. I’m loving the new design also. It suits you very well.

sweet! Sometimes we hope that we will leave our mark on someone as much as they have have theirs on us…but life does not work that way. To most we are just an anecdote. We all want to feel special to at least that someone don’t we?
That is what I read here, nice…thanks! Welcome back!

What if we all thought this poem so stunning we knew we would love you as our poet-friend forever? You have a spot that can never be errased.

Blaga, I am truly stunned. This is a wonderful poem with the way you have expressed the insecurities and questions we all have in our romantic relationships. We all want to be special somehow, not easily replaced. I’m simply in awe. Well done. I want to relbog it on my site. Okay? All links and credits as appropriate, of course. Let me know.

Garland is wonderful. I love it. Have been looking at it too, especially for a new and special blog I’m doing where I don’t want a photo in the header. What a nice frame it makes – and you see it here – is that the post is really highlighted. If the photograph is at the top it makes quite an impression, though it doesn’t look as good when there’s a video. Another advantage is that everything in the sidebars becomes understated, I think.

You’ve done a wonderful job, and I know you are probably right now doing more work behind the scenes. Enjoy it. I love it. Love the colors you chose. How do you feel about it? Are you happy?

Altogether wonderful! And so good to have you back.

    Blessings –
    Jamie

I’m very happy you like it Jamie and of course you can re-blog it, it will be my honor.
This is an old piece that wasn’t quite right, but now over the holidays I had the time to write it again and it came out good.

I love my new theme, I like the colors and the simplicity. The other theme that I liked was like yours on musingbythemoonlight but this one didn’t even need to redo the posts and I can change the colors of the banner on top if I get bored with the purple-bluish shades.

Thank you so very much for a lovely comment and visiting!

  5. Cheryl Says:

Blaga, you have such a wonderful way of painting pictures with your words. I hope we never have to wonder what if your words were no longer there! Precious, my friend.

As always another lovely piece, Thanks for sharing Blaga

Whoa, I would say this is my favorite of all your work I’ve read so far. I love the sentiments, most people just give up and walk away, but the truly successful relationships are the ones in which people make the effort to bring about the impossible. I think we can all make things work out if we want, but sadly most find it too hard to do so. I can really relate to this one :) Beautiful poem!

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

I’m glad you like it! I agree, there is always a solution when there is a desire! But then again if someone leaves and don’t make an effort, that means it wasn’t person worth the trouble, one that loves you will stick with you, no matter what. Or I’m just being way too much of a dreamer! :)

  8. Artswebshow Says:

Maybe that day will never come and need not worry.
Excellent poem here, you had me gripped throughout

  9. Uncle Tree Says:

What a creative and passionate lover you must be!
Why, if a woman were to talk to me like that, I’d…I’d…
I’d probably stumble and fumble around for just the right
words that would keep her forever in my life. These lines:

Or will you collect in a silver jar
two drops of rain, piece of sunshine and a snowflake
and give them to an African magician to create
a new heart I can love you with again?

How cool! A lovely idea. Very lovely, indeed!

“What if…” doesn’t bear contemplating. It’s wonderful to read your words and the gorgeous images they paint and the questions they make me ponder…

I hope 2011 is a blessed and beautiful year for you.

These seem to be the questions that linger in our minds when we wonder about the future with those we love. I love your take on it here and the ideas and objects you’ve used to illustrate your point. Like here:

Or will you collect in a silver jar
two drops of rain, piece of sunshine and a snowflake

    what a lovely image

“Or will you collect in a silver jar
two drops of rain, piece of sunshine and a snowflake
and give them to an African magician to create
a new heart I can love you with again?”

I adore these lines, Blaga. You have a way of creating magical, romantic images that rivals any I have seen in a bookstore. You have so much talent! As for the questions…woulda, coulda, shouldas and “what if”s can dominate a person’s thoughts, but in the end they are a waste of time, because you will probably never know the answers to the “what if’s” (future) until the moments are upon you, and the woulda, coulda, shouldas are all in the past which cannot be changed, either. Being present in the “now” is a challenge, but worth the effort. That being said, this is an absolutely beautiful journey into the land of “what ifs”! :)

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

This is one of my first poems, it is a re-post … I guess when I wrote it I was in a “What if?” land all the way :) I know it’s a waste of time, but sometimes none of us can help it and comes to ask those questions and prays for answers …

  29. Jamie Dedes Says:

I prepared a post on this and it goes up tomorrow – I think – on Musing and later in the month on Bardo. Hope that’s okay. Each has a different intro.
