1. As a blogger, what do you draw inspirations from?

My blog contains mostly poems and short stories. Inspirations can be found anywhere, as long as you let them in. Music, memories, conversations, traveling … each moment of life can be a motivation to create something beautiful out of the experience. If the Muses are kind enough to guide you through the darkness and show you the real face of the light to a new poem or a story, then, all you need is to find the right words and the right ink. Anything that comes from the heart is worth appreciating!

2. If you could swap blogs with another blogger for a post, who would you switch with and why?

I’ve said it many times and I’ll have to say it again, each of the blogs I visit I like for different reasons, each blog is unique for something and I don’t want to express extra sympathy over someone because it will not be fair. I’d like to be a part of every blog on my blogroll, even for an hour, but to answer this question, I’d say, to me “Musing by moonlight” /with Jamie Dedes owner/ is how a blog should be/ in my opinion/, so for a day, I’d like to swap blogs with Jamie.

3. If you blog had a theme song, what would it be? Why?

Now this one it will be difficult to answer … Music is a huge part of my every day life, I don’t do anything without a music on the background, I love music and it it’s hard to include everything into just one song. Every day there is a different feel for a different tune … I can say for today, today the song of my blog would be “Weghtless” by Black Lab.

4. What is your writing process for a post?

I usually first have the poem / I post mostly poems/ written on paper, I then type it here, I look for an image to go with it or a song maybe and once I like the preview of the post, I hit Publish. No special routines …

5. Your blog requires a new, cute mascot- what would it be?

It will be definitely a flower, I’m a flower lover. A white rose or an orchid. It will have a Disney- like face and it will be very pretty.

6. Do you feel you express your “true self” on your blog?

The good thing with poetry is that you can say exactly what you feel, but to remain with fully clothed emotions by dressing your words in metaphors. You can keep the reader entertained and in the same time to keep your emotions private. What is in between the lines it’s mostly my “true self” and if the reader gets a real glimpse of it  … that’s hard to say, but yes, together with the fictional touch, there is and the real me.

7. What is your biggest online pet- peeve?

Different people, different cultures, different characters and it is sure that I have my likes and dislikes. I don’t judge anyone for their online behavior and I don’t demand things, but what I can’t stand is when a stranger comes out of nowhere and has no respect, no politeness to offer. After all you can never really know the person on the other end of the web, you have no right to be rude …

8. If you could live in a fictional universe, where would you live? Why?

I’d like to go back in time and be part of the Tudors life, maybe be Anne Boleyn and have the chance to live with Henri VIII. I have a weakness for English history and Henri VIII is my favorite royal figure. They say he was a bad person, a dictator, but I think he was just misunderstood and unhappy.

9. You’re having a bad day, you’re upset, you’re angry, you’re sad- what is your go-to comfort?

It takes a lot to find myself angry, I’ve come to the conclusion that anger is not a good feeling and I’ve learned to avoid it. Sometimes sadness might visit me, but anger very rarely. But if it happens, well, going to the cinema always fixes things.

10. What is your favorite inspirational quote?

Oh, that’s a tough one, I love quotes, I collect quotes and there are so many of them that I like … Right now what comes in my mind is :

“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul.” ― Pablo Neruda

11. If they were to make a movie based on your life, who would play you, your leading lady/man, your best friend and your rival?

Jessica Alba will definitely play my role and if she is not available I’d agree on Gennifer Garner or Catherine Zeta-Jones, my leading man – Keanu Reeves or Ben Affleck, my best friends will be  Leonardo Di Caprio and Will Smith and my rival that I will defeat successfully – Gwyneth Paltrow.

12. Do you think the world is going to end in 2012?

Definitely NOT! I have so many things to do, I’m not ready for the end of the world …

13. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

The emotional part of me, I wish I had a colder heart.

14. What is your favorite season and why?

Summer, summer and again and always SUMMER! I feel alive in summer. I function best when it’s really hot and bright outside, when there is the smell of sand and ocean. It’s a happy season, season of love, adventures, vacation …

15. You’ve been bitten by a vampire. Would you fight it with all your undead being or would you embrace it for all it is worth?

It depends on the vampire that will bite me, but I’d like to try what would be like …

16. Have you personally met any of your blogger friends?

No, but I wish I could meet few of them.

17. What does your favorite pair of underwear look like?

Black boyshorts-like panties with red writing on the side “Unwrap me” …

18. Have you ever drank something right from the container in the refrigerator knowing that other people will have to drink from the same container later?

No, for the simple reason that I hate drinking from bottles. I like my drink in a cup or a glass. I don’t really get people who drink beer out of a bottle, not that I drink beer at all, but still I think in a glass you can taste better the drink …

19. What is your favorite word and explain why?

I have many favorite words and not only in English. I am a language lover and I find that each word has its beauty, even if the meaning is not positive. In English I like the sound of the words  dismally and pearls. In Arabic I like very much the expression “I miss you”- waheshny, in Spanish the word for “thank you”- gracias. My favorite Greek word is agapi/ αγάπη/, which means love, I like the French je t’aime/ I love you/ and the Bulgarian съществувам/ I exist/ …In general I like words, after all poetry is made out of words …

20. Is there anything you’d like to do different on your blog in 2012?

Yes, I would like to be able to post often than what I’ve been posting in the last few month, to have more time to read other blogs …

    Wonderful, fun interview! Great questions.

  2. Tom Baker Says:

I was wondering what had happened Blaga, but I am happy to see all is well. I loved your answers. You are a very intriguing spirit. Your underwear answer was unexpected but welcomed! I see it is not normal for you to be angry. Very mature. I also admire the way you put your posts together and where you get inspired. Thanks for being a part of this. Next one in July. I hope you’re in!

  3. wordsfallfrommyeyes Says:

Hey Broken Sparkles, great answers :) I always love reading the people’s theme songs. I can’t believe I haven’t heard them before. Mine is Bowie absolutely. I really don’t know how you turned a link into a Youtube image ready to click – very clever!

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

Thank you for stopping by! Bowie has good music too … The YouTube video- that’s easy, on the page where you edit your post, where you have the rich text editor, the first icon is Add Media, you choose the section where it says By URL and there you copy and paste the link of the video you like, but first check on the preview page if it’s going to work properly, some videos are restricted, some are not compatible … I have no idea what criteria they have on video allowance, but … anyway … Once again, thanks for stopping by …

  4. AnonymousBurn Says:

Glad to see your meme finally posted. I love your song, it’s fantastic!

Without knowing you I say, don’t wish for a colder heart. I have one and while I am safely ensconced behind my wall my loved ones on the other side can’t see me through it.

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

Hello AnonymousBurn, thank you for visiting me. Yes, Black Lab are a pretty good band, you should check “This night” by them. Having a way too warm heart it’s a weakness, people use it against you and … Anyway, maybe the best solution is to have a balance, to be cold when it’s needed and the opposite when it’s required?

      • AnonymousBurn Says:

People can only treat you the way that you let them treat you. I think it’s better to be what you are, know what that is, and disallow people to use that against you. These are just my rambling, once, I was a doormat.

        • Broken Sparkles Says:

A huge discussion we’ve opened here :) I usually don’t let anyone treat me as a doormat, even with a super warm heart, I’m independent and strong soul :) I don’t regret for anything I’ve done, but sometimes it could’ve been better :) when it comes to the emotional evaluation …

  5. Paula Says:

“If the Muses are kind enough to guide you through the darkness and show you the real face of the light to a new poem or a story, then, all you need is to find the right words and the right ink. Anything that comes from the heart is worth appreciating!” I love this!

Your answer to #8 reminds me of my Mom. She is a huge Henry VIII fan. She watches every movie, TV show or documentary about him that she can.

  6. Dayle Fraschilla Says:

“The good thing with poetry is that you can say exactly what you feel, but to remain with fully clothed emotions by dressing your words in metaphors.”

I love that and can definitely relate to it! I’m pretty much an open book on my blog, but on occasion I’ve shared things that were about events I didn’t really wish to divulge . . . and I did it through obscure poetry :)

I LOVE that you have favorite words in other languages. That is fabulous!

  7. dragonkatet Says:

That was a wonderful interview, Blaga! :) I really liked your theme song, too. And just for the record, I am GLAD you don’t have a cold heart!! It makes your poetry so moving because your emotions shine through. I looked for a really good white rose picture for you, but there weren’t very many great ones online. I wanted something animated and sparkly (like you, my dear!), so I’ll leave the one I found for you here. :) xox

  8. Addie Says:

I love the Pablo Neruda quote. I once dedicated it to someone special in my life who eventually broke my heart – a sad love story that can be found in my blog. I also featured the whole Neruda poem. Sigh.

Your answer to #1 is the best I’ve read thus far. :D

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

Sorry about the heartbreaking … and thank you for visiting me Addie! Sad love stories should be in the past, you should think of what tomorrow has to offer and find a way out of the sadness! All the best from me to you, thanks for stopping by!

  9. Cherlyn Says:

Yay i made it! I loved your answers – I especially enjoyed your theme song, very beautiful. I also love the idea of your mascot, sounds adorable.

And Keanu Reeves for your leading man eh? Hmm he’s dreamy, I almost forgot about him. Makes me want to watch the Lake House (one of the few chick-flick movies I really like).

Thanks for sharing your answers, I had a great time reading them :)

  10. ladynimue Says:

super reading more about you !!

  11. disjointedrhymings Says:

Out of curiosity, why Anne B? She was one of the beheaded ones! Great call thinking of other languages for a favourite word…agape love is a beautiful type which I wish more of the world had.

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

Why Anne B? The man built a whole new church institution because of her, changed the faith of a whole nation … That you don’t do just because like this, he loved her. As for the beheading, I’d play my role much smarter :) Thank you for leaving a comment!

  12. Bluejellybeans Says:

    Hi BS!
I enjoyed a lot each and every one of your answers. And I have to say that. Neruda, great choice, I don’t know how he did it, but his poems sound equally beautiful and Spanish and English (“…te amo como se aman ciertas cosas oscuras,
secretamente, entre la sombra y el alma”). Next point, I want a part in that movie of you, please!!
Gracias for such a great reading. It’s been really nice meeting you :)

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

Pablo Neruda is my favorite poet, I personally love his poetry much more in Spanish, but few of the English translations have charm too … Thank you for you comment and feel free to join my movie anytime you wish! Nice to meet you :)

  13. Mitchell Allen Says:

    Hi Broken Sparkles,

Your answers are awesome. For real. I love the Black Lab song so much that I downloaded it AND got the lyrics. The words you arranged on this page are fluid magic.

Only a warm heart can do that. I imagine the readers would miss that if you were granted your wish.

  14. lovelylici1986 Says:

I don’t like drinking from bottles either. OR cans. I need a cup or a straw.
Also, I have a crazy love for orchids. I bought one for my office last month. Then I got one for my house last weekend. Now I just want more and more and more! They’re kind of expensive though, so I have to pace myself. Orchids are too pretty and light and elegant to truly represent my blog, so I could never use one as the mascot. Hahaha.

  15. lisa from insignificant at best Says:

I love the idea of an orchid being your mascot! They are one of my favorite flowers!

Also I just love your favorite quote! I had never heard it before, but it definitely left a mark on me. It’s one I’m going to have to remember!

    Nice to meet you! :)

  16. Jamie Dedes Says:

My goodness! Such a lot of meat here. How wonderful. First, I assume Tom came up with the interview questions. Outstanding job. Kudos, Tom. I love it …

What next? “Anything that comes from the heart is worth appreciating.” Ditto that. And that is the reason to be kind when someone’s work is not quite up to snuff. Embrace the heart in it. That’s what really matters. You, dear Blaga, have both technical skill and heart. xox

Swapping blogs for a day! What an amazing idea and I’m tickled that you would chose me to do it with. What do you say? Let’s go for it. How about after the first of the year? Energy is still low and I’m not sure anyone can count on me just yet.

Thank you for the intro to Black Lab. Enjoyed much and will look for more.

Your comment on “true self” hits the mark. “to remain with fully clothed emotions by dressing your words in metaphors.” Now that’s a quotable quote … and we are in agreement on the Neruda quote. Love it.

Henry VIII – you are much braver than me.

“It depends on the vampire …” Ha! My spirited friend.

Many blessing, dear Blaga. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and perhaps get to go home and visit with your mom and dad.

    • Broken Sparkles Says:

I officially pronounce this a comment- THE COMMENT- of this post! This is one of the reasons I think you’re the universal blogger, it’s not only your posts, your poetry, but your comments too!!! I’d love to swap blogs in the new year for real, once you feel you’re back to normal we can arrange it and have fun :)! Thank you Jamie, for everything! Now and always! Hugs back!
